Primordias 11th - 25th October 2007
An Exhibition by Alexander Small

An exciting new exhibition by Northampton artist Alexander Small will be featured at The Artists Sanctuary this October.

Emerging artist Alexander Small brings together a unique mixture of drawing and sound in a fantastic new exhibition called ‘Primordias’.

His drawing based practice is inspired by a search for prime orders in materials directly related to our own bodies. This leads to strange hybrids of drawing, painting and sculpture referring to our material and psychological essences.

Born in the UK, Alexander studied art and philosophy in Bristol and has been a practising artist for the past three years. He has regularly exhibited around the UK, travelled to Kerala, India researching traditional art forms and has been a resident artist at the Artist Sanctuary in Northampton. He recently gained a place at Camberwell College of Art to study for a Masters of art specialising in drawing.

The exhibition is supported by The University of Northampton, Camberwell College of Arts and The Artist Sanctuary Northampton. The exhibition will be at The Artist Sanctuary from Thursday 11th until 25th October with an evening view on the 11th and a day view on the 13th.

The gallery is open daily from Monday to Friday 11am until 4pm Admission is free.

FREEZING ART FAIR
Thu 6th Dec 07 - Sat 22nd Dec 07
OPENING NIGHT: Saturday 1st December 6.30pm

'The FREEZING ART FAIR is the first time that the public has had the opportunity to exhibit their work in the impressive main gallery space. We are all well aware of the wealth and range of talent in our county but the response and general standard of work submitted to the Freezing Art Fair has been overwhelming. All are welcome to the private view, so please come along and help us celebrate a jubilant first year in the Fish!

The selected show will feature over 100 works by 50 artists in a range of media from classic oils, 3d collage and sculpture to illustration and installation. The majority of works in the show are available for sale, giving you the opportunity to invest in affordable art and perhaps the art stars of the future.'
